Less than two weeks until ARIA The ORIGINATION starts!
A promo for the series appeared on Share today, so we thought we'd sub it for you as a little Christmas treat.
As was the case with the OVA, we are only releasing this series in H264/MKV. Trust me, it's better that way.
Merry Christmas for today, and Auguri Buon Anno for next week!

Would be interesting to see if people would rather every regular episode be the same size, or if I should take 2MB off the first episode so the promo can be included without using extra space :3 _________________ silverfire |

By this act, we have demonstrated just how totally several of the main group members lack social lives.
@silverfire, I'd go every ep same size. I'm a bit of a perfectionist too, and if I apply that to filesizes I'd just be likely to not archive the promo if I really wanted the even multiple. _________________ Yesterday is time spent,

ARIA airs at 2:30 AM on a Sunday?
The file sizes doesn't matter to me. I'd personally would like the highest possible quality to be honest. If that happened to be 1080p I would be stoked.
Yea I know that's probably not possible or even necessary. |

Actually, no, that's just them being confusing and us deciding to try and stick to the words they actually used. The 7th is actually the Monday. _________________ Yesterday is time spent,

OK.
New question. ARIA airs at 2:30 AM on a Monday... ehh... 2:30 in the morning!? Does all the good stuff air that late or what? |

Strangely enough, a lot of good shows air after midnight.

Wow I never actually thought about anime televised airtime's to tell the truth. ARIA just didn't seem like the type of show that would air past midnight. Usually for me those time slots are reserved for stuff that wouldn't be allowed to air during the daylight or infomercials.
... or does this just prove that otaku are creatures of the night. |

Come on. Aria is not something you would want your kids to see. Especially little girls. They would all want to be gondoliers after that, and we know what kind of employment opportunities that kind of profession offers in the real world...
I'm not sure my machine could handle 1080p, never tried, but 720p would be good for me if you find such raws from somewhere. Looks much better on a bigger screen. Otherwise I don't much care if all the files are of the same size. You can always find something else to stuff on DVDRs to get them full enough if needed. _________________

Yea come to think about it my old Pentium D 830 struggled to play 1080p so I got myself a core2quad to solve that problem, well actually it was a present. I know many can't do that. That and I think 720p/1080i is the broadcast standard anyways.
720P @ 350MB H246 would be ideal imo. Why because I'm sure at the current rate I will never be able to buy them at any decent quality anytime soon. However at any quality is fine and to be truthful I'm happy as hell to have them at all and subbed too. |

It would be nice if this did air in true HD, but from the raws we got from Share, it was clearly only an upscale. Thus why we converted it to a more appropriate resolution that wasn't wasteful of bandwidth.
Maybe we'll see something different when the series actually begins, but if it's not gonna be HD, I think the quality we saw in the promo is a pretty good second choice. Try comparing it to the promo for ARIA The NATURAL. You'll see what I mean.
Oh, and Happy New Year! _________________ 恥ずかしいセリフ禁止! |

Whoa, 350mb for a 720p? h264 does NOT require that sort of bitrate to look great 233mb works fine for most things, and particularly things like Aria that don't have huge amounts of dark areas or fast motion action.
Sadly, I very much doubt Aria would be aired in HD, so any raws you find (and there WILL be 720p raws thanks to idiots who upscale) will be fake HD upscales. Unless it's actually confirmed to be HD of course, in which case yay, HD Aria ftw _________________
