Yes! It's finally out! ARIA The ORIGINATION episode 1!
We know we are a bit late on this release, but we'll still be doing our best to delivery you the highest quality releases as quickly as we can manage.
A big thank you to those who've not watched the other groups releases in favour of waiting for ours. We appreciate your support.
But, you've been waiting long enough, so I'll try to keep it brief.
Just to reiterate one final time, the releases will be H264/MKV only.
Also, there will be no HD version. You may have seen 1280x720 raws on various torrent sites, but I assure you that these are just TV upscales. That said, I don't think you'll be disappointed with how our release looks.
So with no further adieu, episode 1!

You guys have no idea how much blood, sweat, and tears went into the karaokes XD
Poor Yakhobian had to learn how to use the tool that made Menclave's Gundam 00 OP karaoke since I kinda forced him to ^^;; _________________ silverfire |

Good news!!!
Really happy to have waited for your release, it will fit nicely with all your other Aria stuff.
Not sure if I can wait for the next one. Well I can, but that's not what I'd mean... _________________

Thanks for the release CrystalNova!
The encoding job is good, and the best that can be expected from a 150 MB file... but it's pushing it a little. There's some minor artifacts (not very noticeable at all) but a raw I grabbed a while ago was definitely of better quality. I think bumping the total file size up to 175 MB would clean that up well.... Space is cheap... at $0.20/GB for HDD's and even less than that for DVD's, there's no reason to skimp on filesizes.
And thanks for not skimping on the sound! ~140 kb/s vorbis, not much to complain about . |

@Maniac:
Uhh, what? 150MB is actually being entirely generous with the filesize. If I were a bit more creative with the filtering, I could have easily hit 120MB with the same quality. I seriously didn't want to spend eight hours filtering though
If it just so happens that you have the deblocking filter disabled, with H264, it shouldn't be that way x_o;; _________________ silverfire |

I have deblocking enabled .
well after a second quick look through I didn't notice anything. Thought I saw one thing but it exists on the raw also.. so maybe my eyes were just playing tricks on me ^^. Maybe I noticed that 0.7% by chance earlier, jk .
Although I am that odd quality obsessed type that prefers 100% quality at the cost of space... all my music is in lossless ^^.
Thanks for your effort! I was seriously expecting to be disappointed after watching it at 150 MB (there seems to be a recent trend in fansubbing of sacrificing quality for space... especially in the audio sector... some people think 100 kbps AAC sounds fine... apparently they can't hear high tones, I feared you guys were taking the same path), but again you surprised me (even before I made my first post). You guys do some of the best fansub work I've seen. |

It was a fine first episode of the new season. I paid attention to the fact they seemed to make an effort to give all the central characters some screen time. It was that kind of an episode all around. Not that I minded, though; it wasn't a recap of the previous seasons or anything like that.
I've got nothing bad to say about the encoding. I remember from some earlier projects that Silverfire seemed to sacrifice many nights to find just the exact file size that would still allow a quality not sacrificing anything. I reckon this is yet another sign of CrystalNova not cutting any corners.
Oh, and if what Silverfire said is true, I should say forcing Yakhobian to learn new tricks was certainly worth it! (Although saying it like this makes it sound like it was harder for Silverfire himself, but oh well...)
Thank you for you hard efforts and lets hope everything will go smoothly with the following episodes. _________________

The tracker says 0, but I assure you it has seeds and peers. It's just a bug in the tracker software that caused it to not update the stats after we had to do something to the episode 1 torrent.
And there are two bots in the IRC channel with the episode. You just need to use the !latest trigger, as listed in the topic. _________________ 恥ずかしいセリフ禁止! |

Cheers!
There must be a bug with my mIRC, or connection at uni or something at the moment. I just got this:
| Quote: | | -[SBC]- ** Transfer Completed (8 KB, 0.510 sec, 15.7 KB/sec, md5sum: ae447986d5230cbaee6daca228fa8532) |
I'll try something else, see if it's my connection or IRC client.
Edit: Just tried Murder Princess from Aurora, which was fine. I guess I'll have to put Aria off until Friday. No worries, better late than never and absence will only make the heart grow fonder.
Ah, it's working now I'll be watching Aria after I get back from town |
